Elephant Talk

This is a song by a band called King Crimson. I found it particularly ambient and interesting. And when I checked out the lyrics, it was all the more amusing. Here it is.

Talk, it's only talk
Arguments, agreements, advice, answers,
Articulate announcements
It's only talk

Talk, it's only talk
Babble, burble, banter, bicker bicker bicker
Brouhaha, boulderdash, ballyhoo
It's only talk
Back talk

Talk talk talk, it's only talk
Comments, cliches, commentary, controversy
Chatter, chit-chat, chit-chat, chit-chat,
Conversation, contradiction, criticism
It's only talk
Cheap talk

Talk, talk, it's only talk
Debates, discussions
These are words with a D this time
Dialogue, dualogue, diatribe,
Dissention, declamation
Double talk, double talk

Talk, talk, it's all talk
Too much talk
Small talk
Talk that trash
Expressions, editorials, expugnations, exclamations, enfadulations
It's all talk
Elephant talk, elephant talk, elephant talk.

This song appeared in their 1981 album 'Discipline'. There are some more great songs on this record. Unfortuntely I could'nt find a link to the song. However there are links for their albums. Here is one of them. Well most of the links dont work, but the Discipline link works.

Souls and sounds

I want to drop out of school.

Take shots of cocaine alongside Hendrix.

Grow up fighting the laws.

Sulk in basements of friends smoking pot.

Listen to records all day long.

Go around for gigs all night.

Come home wasted.

Get thrown out back on the streets.

Laugh merrily at the empty pockets.

Always in a reverie.

A sheepish smile through the curls.

As smoke circles hit the ceiling.

Pick up the guitar.

The sound of distortion livens me up.

Mates look at each other.

‘I think we should start a band’.

In the garage we kick it off.

Records, guitars, pot.

Whatnot.

Cruising through heaps of sound.

Songs are born into the band.

From garage to stage.

We hit it off.

Scream our lungs out.

To tell you our minds.

Bright lights, warm sweat.

Blurred vision.

Free minds unite.

To save the world.

Millions live on hope.

Music is hope.

Though slightly inconspicuous to the random pair of eyes.

Songlines spread like a pandemic.

Through faceless faces.

And beautiful minds.

Living in the 70’s I’m not.

But save the world I will.

Find me.
